What is Qi enabled devices?

Qi is a standard developed by the Wireless Power Consortium for inductive electrical power transfer over distances of up to 4cm. Any phone devices that can be wirelessly charged will be able to use MagSafe products by having the metal ring at the back of their case.

Can I attach it directly to the back of the device? Will I be able to remove it later without leaving residues?

No. It is only compatible with PC or TPU case without a non-slip coating. Generally, there is fingerprint oil on mobile phones. This is also to avoid the possibility of leaving glue residue on the phone.
